FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect in class?
Barrefigure classes follow a 60 minute format. We begin with a 15 minute warm-up and upper body exercises, followed by 25 minutes of leg and seat exercises, 20 minutes of core conditioning and we finish with a five minute relaxation and stretch. A complete body and mind workout in one hour! Choreography and intensity will vary each class to keep it interesting and prevent you from plateauing.

What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Socks are required and non-slip socks are available for purchase for $18 at the studio.

What should I bring?
If it's your first time, please arrive 15 minutes early so you can fill in a client liability waiver form. We will provide all the equipment necessary to have a great workout, but you are encouraged to bring a water bottle. Please silence your cell phones before class, as this can be distracting to the teacher and your fellow students. For health and safety reasons, clients are not permitted into the studio room ten minutes past the start of class.

Can I attend class during pregnancy?
Yes, Barrefigure is a very safe workout for pre- and post-natal care. Founder and Master Trainer, Marysa is a qualified pre- and post -natal specialist and became a mother herself in December 2016. A few appropriate modifications make this class a very thorough and effective workout, and it is fantastic to help prepare your body for labour and keep your body toned, making it much easier to regain your shape after baby is born. Consent from your doctor/obstetrician/midwife is required. We offer a Barrefigure pre-natal video that you are able to borrow to learn the modifications. Email us for more information and to borrow the usb stick.

How often should I attend a class to see results?
Clients can see results in as little as eight to ten classes. Attending class three times per week, you can experience a significant increase in strength and flexibility and notice improved tone overall. Greater results are achieved with higher frequency per week and continuity over time.

Is there a change room/shower/bathroom?
There is a toilet and changing room in the studio, however there is no shower facility. We provide individual hand towels to use during class. We also have a selection of person hygiene products to use in the studio.

Is there parking?
There is plenty of free on street parking in the surrounding streets.

How do I pay for my class?
To guarantee your spot in class it is essential that you book and purchase in advance through Mindbody online. Please call if you prefer to book via the phone. We may accept walk-ins subject to availability.

What if I need to cancel?
Please log into Mindbody and cancel online. Unfortunately failing to turn up for a booked class, or cancelling within SIX hours of the class start time will result in the full class being lost if a class pack/concession has been purchased. Clients on the 30 Day Unlimited Introductory Offer, 30 Day Unlimited or Monthly Unlimited Membership Contract will be charged $15 for any class missed. If cancelled prior to 6 hours there is no penalty.

What does it mean if I'm on the waitlist?
This means the class is already at full capacity and you have been added to the waitlist and if any clients cancel, you will be moved up into class. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will be added to class. However, if you are added you will receive an automated email confirming you are now booked into class - as long as you have checked 'subscribe to email reminders & notifications' in your profile. The studio will also do their best to personally contact you.

What if I'm worried about my fitness level/lack of experience?
We strive to make our studio a place where everyone will feel comfortable – all ages, genders and fitness levels. Barrefigure is a low-impact workout and as long as you can hold on to the ballet barre, you can do Barrefigure! No dancing experience is required. While the Barrefigure technique is high intensity, it is very low impact, meaning you’ll get a great workout without putting excessive stress on your joints. We focus on tiny isometric movements and use your own body weight to sculpt your physique.

My concession pack has expired, can I extend it?
If your concession pack (x5, x10 or x20 class pack) has expired, we can extend it for a $15 fee.
